this scene isn't dead

just another fucking fanzine

Notes

and for my 100th blog post… here’s a gig!

So I finally got round to doing it. I’ve booked some bands to play at the iBar on the 26th of May. And it features 3 bands who I’ve blogged on here before. Let’s have a look at these wonderful performers, shall we?

The headliners of the first This Scene Isn’t Dead show are one of my favourite local bands - Kinnie The Explorer. Playing a mix of dream pop, indie-rock, shoegaze, they have won over many hearts since the release of their debut EP ‘Blood, It’s On Every Wall’ last summer. With upcoming performances in London and Brighton (might also be supporting Glasser at some point, but shh) soon, this will be their first headline performance in Bournemouth for quite some time. Hopefully with some brand new releases to showcase, it’ll be a memorable performance. You can listen to their music here: http://www.myspace.com/kinnietheexplorer or read my piece: kinnie the explorer.

Underneath Kinnie The Explorer we have Saturday Sun; a post-rock group from Swanage. The band play an excellent mixtured of alternative rock, post-rock and acoustic tunes, and with lead singer Alex Hedley’s extremely powerful vocal delivery, they are definitely a band you need to check out. They’ve let to release a traditional EP, but I’m hoping by the time May comes around, they’ll have something to showcase. And last but not least, we have Bos Angeles. At this moment in time, this is their first gig, which is exciting for me. Bos Angeles don’t even have any music up at this present time, but I’m hoping a lot of exciting noise will show up by May. They play a sound similar to Husker Du and the Beach Boys, with surfer vibes and heavy guitars. They also fucking love Nirvana apparently. For more info on Bos Angeles, visit: http://www.myspace.com/bosangeless or read my piece: bos angeles.

All the details for the show are on the poster above, but if you need just a little bit more persuading, visit the facebook event page. And hey, while you’re at it, why not become a fan of the facebook page in general?
